What is Domiciliary Care?

Staying at Home With the Support You Need

Domiciliary care – also called home care, means professional care and support delivered in your own home, rather than in a residential or nursing facility. It is designed to help individuals maintain their independence and quality of life in the place they know and love.

At Mother Care East London Ltd, our domiciliary care service is flexible, person-centred, and available around the clock. Whether you need a carer to visit for 30 minutes each morning or a full-time live-in professional to be with you around the clock, we tailor our service to fit your life.

All our carers are enhanced DBS checked, fully trained, and carefully matched to each individual. We prioritise consistency so you see the same face each visit, building trust, routine, and a genuine human connection.

Hourly Home Care or Full Live-in Support

We offer two core models of domiciliary care – both fully flexible, both person-centred, and both available at short notice across East London.

๐Ÿ•

Hourly Domiciliary Care

From 30 minutes per visit

Our hourly care service provides a trained carer for a set number of hours or visits each day or week. Ideal for individuals who are mostly independent but need help with specific tasks – getting up, preparing meals, taking medication, or bedtime routines.

โœ“ Minimum visit of 30 minutes

โœ“ Morning, lunchtime, afternoon and evening calls available

โœ“ Overnight sitting service

โœ“ Flexible scheduling – visits adjusted as needs change

โœ“ Double-up visits for moving and handling needs

โœ“ Suitable for self-funders, local authority and NHS packages

Best for: Partial independence with daily task support

๐Ÿก

Live-in Domiciliary Care

24-hour dedicated care at home

Our live-in care service places a dedicated, trained carer in your home to provide round-the-clock support. The carer lives with the individual, giving them continuous professional care while allowing them to stay in the home they love.

โœ“ Dedicated carer lives in the individual’s home

โœ“ Continuous support day and night

โœ“ The alternative to a care home – at home

โœ“ Suitable for complex and high-dependency needs

โœ“ Weekly or fortnightly carer changeover available

โœ“ Management oversight and regular reviews included

Best for: Complex needs or preference to avoid a care home

How We Start

Care at Home in Four Simple Steps

From your first call to a carer being in place, our process is designed to be clear, fast, and focused on getting things right for the individual from day one.

1

Get in Touch

Call 07510 916481 or complete our referral form. We respond within one working day and discuss needs, preferences, and the individual’s circumstances.

2

Free Home Assessment

We visit at home to carry out a thorough, no-obligation needs assessment – understanding daily routines, health conditions, and what matters most to the individual.

3

Carer Matching

We select the most suitable carer based on skills, personality, cultural background, and language – then introduce them before care begins where possible.

4

Care Begins

Care starts to a written, agreed plan. We monitor quality continuously, stay in regular contact with families, and adapt the schedule as needs evolve.

Common Questions

Domiciliary Care FAQs

What is the difference between hourly and live-in care?

Hourly care means a carer visits for a set number of hours each day or week – ideal for those who are mostly independent but need help with specific tasks. Live-in care means a professional carer lives in the individual’s home full-time, providing continuous support around the clock. Both options are available from Mother Care East London Ltd and can be combined or adjusted over time.

How quickly can you start home care?

In urgent situations, we can often begin care within 24 to 48 hours of assessment. For planned packages, we typically begin within one week of completing the care plan and carer matching. We always aim to introduce the carer to the individual before care begins where possible.

Can I have the same carer every visit?

We make every effort to assign a consistent carer for each individual. Consistency is central to our approach – it builds trust, reduces anxiety, and means the carer gets to know the individual’s routines, preferences, and personality. In practice we aim to provide the same carer or a small, familiar team.

Do you accept funding from the local authority or NHS?

Yes. We accept care packages funded through local authority social care, NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC), Direct Payments, and personal budgets. We work directly with social workers and commissioners across East London boroughs. We also accept self-funding clients.

What happens if my usual carer is unwell?

Our team of carers means cover is always available. In the event your regular carer cannot attend, we will always contact you in advance and send a suitable alternative. We maintain a reserve team for exactly this purpose so there is never a gap in care.

Are your carers directly employed by you?

Yes. Unlike an introductory agency, all our carers are directly employed by Mother Care East London Ltd. This means they are fully managed, trained, and supervised by us. We handle DBS checks, employment contracts, ongoing training, appraisals, and quality monitoring – giving you the security of a fully managed service.
